Patent: six-hour paving concrete

An essential consideration in renovating concrete road surfaces is the point at which traffic is allowed to drive on the surface again once the concrete has hardened. Usually traffic can only drive on the surface again 12 or 24 hours after concrete is applied.

Pittel+Brausewetter has been able to develop a paving concrete that can be driven on just six hours after application.

The concrete has reached 50 per cent of its compressive strength at this time. An inspection can be done with equipment that shows compressive strength with a calibration curve. This innovation marks a clear improvement for all concerned – especially drivers.
